KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.19 g, 12 h), Babylon, under Philip III, circa 323-317. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on high-backed throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, Μ; below throne, ΛΥ. Price 3692. Lightly toned, struck in high relief, and of fine Hellenistic style. A few light marks. Extremely fine.
